Summary: victims of racist violence the majority of African seasonal workers in Rosarno had to leave the region. Some have organized themselves into assembly to defend their rights and to make known their claims. The violence of 7 and 8 January are explained in two complementary ways. On the one hand there is the fall of the price of oranges correlated with the allocation of CAP support system : it was no longer  profitable to pick the fruit  and made unnecessary the presence of seasonal and so potentially embarrassing. On the other the likely tensions instrumentalisation by local criminal networks in order to divert the attention on them by the Calabria Region.
